In spite of outdated concerns regarding the safety or effectiveness on youth, resistance training has the potential to offer observable health and fitness value to children and adolescents (Feigenbaum, et al., 2009). Current research has shown that resistance training for youth has gained acceptance, as long as proper guidelines are followed. This session will educate attendees on the proper guidelines and also provide strategies for implementing an appropriate program in various youth athletic settings.
