Physical activity (PA) research reveals many adolescents, particularly adolescents placed at-risk, fail to meet recommended guidelines. This symposium explores motivational elements among adolescent boys placed at-risk in a three-week summer sports camp setting. We draw from self-determination and expectancy-value theory to examine how camp experiences impact boys’ perceived motivational regulations, perceived instructional support, intentions for future activity, and extraneous benefits. Each presentation concludes with recommendations for practice to enhance continued motivation in physical activity.
