Performance at the highest competitive levels requires players to demonstrate superior mental toughness. Developing the resilience and confidence that is necessary to perform under pressure is a long-term process that should start early in a player’s development. Specifically, the skills and methods for training youth to professional athletes will be presented. Furthermore, there will be an examination of some of the larger issues and trends facing elite performance and sport psychology.
