This presentation discusses how current education reform is changing the goals of PE. These reforms are pressing PE to be considered an academic subject. However, the increased focus on academic content may diminish the importance of non-cognitive goals. In particular, as PE professionals are evaluated on the basis of student cognitive growth in PE related content, traditional elements that distinguish PE from academic subjects, namely psychomotor and affective goals will be eliminated.
