Two PE teachers transformed an ordinary under-funded New York City P-8 public school PE program into a CSPAP-like community-linked PE/sport/physical activity program that, after eight years, involves nearly 80% of students in extracurricular competitive and recreational sports and activities. Teachers and researchers will describe how and why they got started, how they found facilities, developed funding, convinced administrators, recruited teachers to serve as coaches, created middle school sports leagues, and maintain weekly contact with parents.
