The study of movement in action is typically distinct in the areas of motor development, motor learning, aging, and performance in that different ages, tasks, and theories are emphasized in each subdomain. This presentation will develop the case that the dynamical systems approach provides theoretical perspective and experimental strategies to move us toward a general account of the qualitative and quantitative change in the dynamics of movement and action across the lifespan.
