The number of states requiring teachers to show evidence of effective teaching continues to rise. Many of these systems of measuring teacher effectiveness include an observational tool to assess characteristics of teacher performance. The purpose of this presentation is to discuss findings of recently completed research that explored how current mainstream observational tools map onto physical education settings and how these tools may be used as a part of measuring teacher effectiveness in physical education.
