Emotions relay valuable information to coaches and players. It is necessary, therefore, for coaches to develop emotional intelligence. The presentation will defend the necessity of emotions and the development of emotional intelligence in coaching. Methods to improve emotional intelligence through cognitive processing skills, openness to one’s own emotions and the emotions of others, and obtaining knowledge as to managing and using emotions in coaching will also be discussed.
