Bipolar Disorder is a difficult to diagnose mental health condition affecting many children. Undiagnosed children who suffer from Bipolar Disorder are susceptible to higher rates of injuries, academic problems, family and social problems, incarceration, and substance abuse. Delay in accurate diagnosis and effective treatment leads to academic, behavioral, and social problems. This presentation focuses on: diagnostic strategies; signs, symptoms, and behaviors; various types of the condition; treatment strategies, and factors that contribute to effective outcomes.
