Cultivating Leaders: Black Female Collegiate Athletes and Leadership Development |
Black women in America are said to experience a double burden based on racial and gender status, and black women in collegiate athletics are no exception. Acknowledging this notion, the societal marginalization combined with athletic alienation and isolation, has limited opportunities for growth and social development. The purpose of this session is to explore a co-curricular leadership program created to enhance the personal and professional development of the black female collegiate athlete using on-campus partnerships. |
