Reading, Running and 'Rithmetic: Reinforcing Academic Skills Through Fitness Activities |
Attendees will participate in a variety of motivating fitness and movement activities that use teacher-made task cards to reinforce reading and math skills for elementary and middle school students. Ready-to-copy illustrated templates will be shared that allow teachers to produce game cards with materials commonly found in schools. Reading skills incorporated include comprehension, sequencing, interpreting directions, spelling, and letter recognition. Math skills emphasized include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, graphing, equation solving, and money counting. |
