Super-Sizing America: Geography, Income, Fast Foods and Whole Foods |
The US obesity rate has increased to an alarming degree (current estimate 23.6%). This session explores relationships between obesity, per capita income, fast-food restaurants, and whole foods grocers. Obesity causes, socioeconomic trends, and federal food assistance programs are reviewed and study results are shared. Obesity rates are influenced by income and availability of the two extremes (fast food vs. whole foods).
