Design & Management of the Secondary School Throwing Facility |
The enactment of Title IX prompted many high schools to renovate their track-and-field facilities to accommodate both boys’ and girls’ participation. Additionally, the National High School Federation enacted safety standards, including a mandatory discus cage. This presentation examines characteristics of track-and-field throwing facilities, including data from a state-wide survey. Participants will learn important principles for the design and management of a new or renovated throwing facility to maximize efficiency and safety. |
