Research has consistently shown that American male athletes at previous Olympic Summer games receive more coverage in terms of newspaper column inches and photos than women, even as participation by American female athletes achieves near parity. Will coverage by two of America’s newspaper giants (in terms of circulation), the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, follow previous patterns in covering the Beijing Olympics? |
