Health Education Research and Development in Underserved Urban-Suburban Schools. |
Participants will learn how one group of university HPE faculty are working with a low-income, minority school district to develop cultural awareness, sensitivity, and more relevant teaching practices for underserved school health education classes. Participants will hear how research conducted with middle and high school teachers and their students led to changes in teacher education course work, internship experiences, and forged a commitment towards service in underserved communities by university teacher education students.
