Addressing Professional Development Responsibilities and Competencies Through Service Learning |
In a global society, professional development strives to cultivate cultural competency, citizenship and social responsibility, the strengthening of analytical and problem solving skills and increased diversity acceptance. Service learning, a pedagogy gaining momentum in universities aims to enhance these qualities to prepare citizens to lead, collaborate, advocate and develop public policy strategy (Clark, 1999). This round table forum invites dialogue on the role service learning plays in professional development across the AAHPERD spectrum. |
