Alliance Scholar Lecture: On the Problem of Motor Skill Development |
Children who are not skillful movers have a limited physical activity repertoire. As our society faces an epidemic of children who are obese, physical education needs to re-think the importance of motor skill development for educating children for a lifetime filled with physical activity. This lecture will review not only the reasons that skillfulness is important, but also will present the recent literature on how motor skills are acquired. |
