Faith-Based Health Promotion Strategies
Faith-based activities will be explored focusing on health education and health promotion strategies with community and school-based groups. One program addresses the development, implementation, and evaluation of health enhancement through community assessment. The second focuses on African-American church members’ attitudes on the impact of HIV/AIDS in Black communities, religious beliefs about HIV/AIDS, and the influence of such attitudes on the motivation to participate in personal and congregational HIV/AIDS ministry. The third presentation provides an overview of the types of faith-based prevention and health promotion programs that are offered in one state through local public health departments and voluntary health agencies.
