Collective and Experiential Dimensions of Teachers’ Practical Knowledge: African American Women in the Professoriate Speak |
Culturally responsive teaching is an important tool in promoting educational equity for students of color. It is influenced by many factors, including practical knowledge drawn from teachers' own experiences and standpoints. For concrete examples of this knowledge in practice we will look specifically at the experiences of African American women in the professoriate. Through their stories we will attempt to first document this type of knowledge and then describe its utility for teacher practice. |
