Emotional Toughness Training: A Practical Approach for Coaches
This workshop will present a hands-on program for teaching athletes to control their emotions in sport and compete with intensity, effort, and sportsmanship. Based on the “Playing Tough and Clean Hockey Program” developed by the speakers, a series of emotional toughness strategies will be presented to coaches and practitioners. The audience will be shown a template for teaching emotional toughness in a series of pre- or post-practice meetings. Video, handouts, demonstrations, and participant involvement will be used to make the session interactive. Attendees will leave with a series of handouts providing them the details to teach emotional toughness to athletes.
