Weidman Based Modern Dance Class |
This class focuses on Weidman technique. Charles Weidman was a pioneer of the American Modern Dance movement. He and Doris Humphrey were innovators in technique, choreography, and theory of dance movement; they developed the idea of suspend/fall/recover and became an inspiration to generations of modern dance choreographers. This technique class will include a traditional Weidman warm up, floor and center exercises, falls, movement patterns and his witty "pardon my jewels" series. It will conclude with a section of repertory from his Bach Christmas Oratorio. |
