Confronting Isolation from the Active Older Adult Lifestyle
With the proliferation of active older adult communities such as Sun City by Del Webb, a form of isolation has begun between these age-restricted communities and the overall citywide community. Programming beyond the neighborhood requires collaboration between traditional leisure service providers and the community association directors. Residents and service professionals must be engaged in identifying and addressing collaborative opportunities between active adult communities and the general community. These active adult communities are home to a number of organized and active social groups. This session will present opportunities to integrate these autonomous communities into the overall citywide community.
