Dance, Dance, Dance: Exploring Cultural Awareness from within the Sport Education Model |
This participation workshop will assist teachers in implementing a meaningful dance experience into their secondary curriculum using the sport education model. Dance’s four components: technique and skills, creative process, dance heritage, and aesthetic value will be woven into three predominant engagement patterns for learning activities. Participants will be exposed to and provided opportunities to create dances within dance troupes. Presenters will share original examples with audience and Laban’s principles and vision of movement qualities will be used to add quality/depth. Session concludes with the sharing of dances created by the “troupes”, peer teaching, and assessment of dances using rubrics. |
