Evolution of The University of Alabama’s Distance Health Education Program |
Audience members will examine the evolution of distance education, the challenges of administering a distance education program at a traditional university, and the promise of technology for delivering quality education. A discussion detailing the history of UA’s distance education graduate program in Health Studies, administrative challenges, and changes occurring in the program. Moreover, a conceptual framework, based on experiences gleaned from the administration of this program, will be presented from a departmental view, of the components necessary to manage a distance education program. This framework will be discussed in comparison to organizational models of distance education identified in the literature. |
