Sex Education in Today’s Youth Culture: Inside and Outside the Classroom. What Skills are Really Being Learned?
This session is an activity based program focusing on the development, implementation and assessment of affective and skill-based sexuality education activities and assessments that are experiential in developing a positive sense of sexuality in today’s youth culture. Activities will be presented that are appropriate for abstinence-based as well as comprehensive sexuality education. In addition, issues surrounding teacher training will also be addressed. This program is appropriate for health educators in the public schools and those in higher education involved in teacher preparation. Participants will leave with a variety of materials and resources that can be readily implemented into their classroom.
