Barriers Impacting Women in Coaching and Strategies for Change
Leaders in higher education and intercollegiate athletics have identified the low number of women in intercollegiate athletics leadership positions and coaching positions as problematic. This session will focus on the latest information and research related to barriers impacting women in the coaching profession at the collegiate level. It will also include a discussion on strategies for increasing the number of women as coaches of men’s and women’s sport teams. This information may be of use to gender equity advocates and researchers, coaches, as well as policy makers and administrators who are charged with creating gender equitable policies and procedures.
