Developing Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Health Education Programs |
The racial and ethnic diversification of the U.S. population establishes the need to develop culturally and linguistically appropriate health education programs. To develop effective health education programs, health educators need to understand the complexity of cultural competency. The presentation is designed to help participants identify cultural beliefs and values that need to be considered when developing health education programs for diverse groups. Participants will explore the health education literature dealing with cultural competence. Furthermore, through discussion of case scenarios the participants will be able to identify appropriate strategies to be used when targeting diverse populations. |
