Gender Equity Issues in Intercollegiate Athletic Recruiting
Gender equity and student-athlete recruitment are both frequently debated issues within the realm of higher education and intercollegiate athletics. This presentation will include (a) An overview of Title IX Athletics requirements, (b) Review of NCAA and EADA gender equity data related to recruiting, and (c) Discussion of research conducted by the presenters analyzing current gender differences in the experience of the recruited intercollegiate student-athlete. A discussion concerning the relationship between the experience of recruited female student-athletes, Title IX requirements, and EADA data will assist professionals in understanding the current culture in intercollegiate athletics with respect to gender equity.
