A major reason for the inclusion of adventure education within K-12 schools’ curricula has been the increased focus on the content and teaching of adventure education within college and university teacher education programs. This session will focus on the development of a comprehensive adventure education component within teacher education programs. Specific areas of emphasis will include linking content of methods courses to the teaching of adventure education concepts and skills, selecting practicum and student teaching sites, arranging facilities and procuring equipment, and forming partnerships with camps and other community agencies. |
