Teaching Professional Writing to the Instant Message Generation |
Over the past two decades, many universities have adopted a “writing across the curriculum” (WAC) approach to enhance the professional writing of students. As a result, sport management/recreation and other faculty have begun to ask questions about “teaching writing in the discipline.” Are writing assignments developed, supported, sequenced, and assessed appropriately? Are writing assignments improving the professional writing of their students?
Since most sport management/recreation faculty have not been trained in teaching writing, the purpose of this presentation is to share three writing assignments and the teaching process used in a 200 level sport management course. |
