Adapting Evidence-Based Strategies of Physical Activity and Nutrition in Community Programming
The challenge in addressing the obesity epidemic among the adult population is developing a program that balances physical activity and nutrition. “A Healthy You” is an 8-week course developed from evidence-based strategies. Attendees will learn how “A Healthy You” 1) incorporates essential guidelines on physical activity and nutrition, and 2) helps the participant comprehend benefits, stages of change, the importance of goal-setting, overcoming barriers, self-monitoring, support systems, and rewards. This program can be adapted to settings such as community, college/university, school staff, and worksites.
