The ABC’s of Circus Education: Teaching Achievable Basic Competency™ in Five Circus Skills
Circus education is possibly the single greatest untapped resource available to educators seeking a new P.E. paradigm. It allows for the inclusion of all children regardless of skill, fitness, gender, or academic ability. Following this workshop, teachers will know the cues for teaching the ABC’s (Achievable Basic Competency™) in: Toss Juggling; Devil Sticks, Rola Bola (balance boards), Human Pyramids, and Character (clowning). Skills will be taught in group rotations. Time constraints will necessarily reduce discussion, however support materials and information sheets will be included in the 2007 COPEC Handouts Booklet.
