To Stretch or Not to Stretch: What Does Science Support? |
Many myths and misconceptions about the role and importance of stretching persist. Recent research findings shed light on questions regarding who benefits (or not) from stretching and when and why to stretch. This session will focus on the short-term effects of stretching on the body relative to injury risk and muscular performance. We will summarize the research related to three key aspects of stretching along with the practical implications, ending with a question and answer session. Coaches, physical educators, and athletic trainers will learn how to incorporate stretching appropriately into their programs. |
