Project Coach: Youth Development through Coaching Education
Project Coach provides opportunities for high school students from underserved communities to develop leadership competencies by being exposed to a coaching education curriculum. The program’s basic premise is that good coaches teach their players how to be successful, and that by being given a leadership role in such a process, coaches themselves will learn what it takes to achieve in their own personal sports, academic, and community lives. As a by-product of the program 72 children attending an underperforming urban elementary school are provided with sports programs that are organized by project staff, and coached by our high school students.
