Importance of Reducing Athletes' Sun Exposure
Participants will learn of the increasing incidence rates of skin cancer in the U.S. Over 7 million students participate in high school athletics annually. Athletes and their coaches are special populations at elevated risk for UV radiation. The numbers who regularly practice sun protection are unknown. Presenters will discuss the estimated exposure of AL athletes to high UV radiation using EPA forecasts and intercept interviews. Participants will understand personal practices to protect themselves and their student athletes.
