Geocaching for Muggles |
Co-sponsor: Council for Adventure & Outdoor Education/Recreation
GPS systems have been developed for use to identify latitude and longitude positions, altitude, waypoints, compass directions, rate of travel and the like. In 2000, GPS units began to be used by the public in a new sport/hobby called geocaching. The purpose of this session is to introduce geomugglers (persons who are new to geocaching) about how to use a GPS unit, the history of geocaching, types of caches, cache hunting rules, planting a cache, and the benefits of caching. |
