Change, Challenge, Choice: Boosting Participation
Kids’ eagerness to participate in physical activities is influenced both by the activities themselves and by the manner in which they are presented. How can we develop activities and climates where, regardless of their abilities, all kids will be motivated to be fully engaged? A key ingredient is to provide choices among suitable challenges. In this session we will offer specific, field-tested strategies for changing activities and equipment, for designing challenges that suit individual and group needs, and for deliberately providing the types of choices that will maximize participation.
