Got HYPE? (High-Yield Physical Education)
Want to be a part of the obesity prevention solution? Looking for research-based approaches to strengthen your elementary physical education program? What are the best practices for today's physical educators? This session will examine research-based strategies and recommendations for transforming traditional K-5 physical education programs into "High-Yield Physical Education" (HYPE) programs. "High-Yield" refers to a program model that uses every possible opportunity to increase physical activity opportunities during the school day, decreases "down-time" in physical education classes, uses proven curriculum reforms (e.g., standard-based grading, pacing guides), and re-energizes teachers to implement successful obesity prevention models.
