Clinical Trials 101 |
Clinical trials have long been considered as a gold standard in determining the effective treatment methods in biomedical research. As preventative and therapeutic effects of physical activity are continuously investigated, many researchers conduct exercise and physical activity clinical trials on various sub-populations (e.g., children, diabetics). Appropriately designed and executed a clinical trial is necessary. The purpose of this symposium is to provide the basics of designing and conducting clinical trials. Issues relating to confounders with small sample sizes and techniques to handle it will be covered. Finally, the process of quality control will be explored including new NIH control measures. |
