Maximizing Participation in Adventure Activities
Strategies for involving as many people as possible in adventure activities. MAXIMIZING WITH CHOICE: No challenge will usually accommodate everyone. If players have an opportunity to choose among options, the invitation to try, to risk is enhanced. This session will provide strategies for creating an inviting, accessible climate for all. MAXIMIZING WITH STYLE: Many people teach adventure with teacher directed styles to assure safety. Such styles often limit participation. More student centered teaching styles can increase involvement. Using Mooston’s "Spectrum of Teaching Styles," participants will learn to maximize student activity while still providing a safe environment.
