Dealing with Puberty and Adolescence |
Participants will review the causes and issues associated with early puberty and associated psychological, social, and emotional implications. Gender differences and developmental factors will be discussed in relationship to self-esteem. The influence of culture, media, technology, and environmental factors will be examined.
Ideas for shifting youth risk-taking from destructive to constructive behavior will be illustrated. Suggestions for empowering youth as advocates for health will be discussed. Promising research and practices will be presented. |
