Worksite Health Promotion Evaluation: How to Read Fine Print |
This presentation focuses on issues that are often overlooked when investigating the effectiveness of health promotion programs. Virtually any evaluation effort in health promotion comes with limitations and delimitations. Worksite health promotion professionals often have responsibilities to report to CFOs. We need to pay special attention in interpreting and understanding the findings that are reported in academic journals, annual reports from consulting firms, or even in information brochures from vendors. Discussed are topics of limitation/delimitation issues pertaining mainly to external validity that include participation/attrition rates, self-selection bias, population-definition, time-frame, the selection of effectiveness indicators, the ease/willingness of the adoption and maintenance of programs. |
