Addressing Obesity in Community and School Settings
During this session, the first presentation will discuss a study that involved the cooperation between a local health department, the faith community, the school system and the community in dealing with the problem of overweight/obesity in children. This study presents the cooperative efforts between all aspects of the community and the health department. The second presentation will address examples of non-discriminatory language appropriate for introducing and discussing issues of obesity with middle and high school students and methods for evaluating school climate in relation to body size.
