The Jane Addams Hull-House is a historic site and memorial to Jane Addams, her innovative settlement house programs, associates, and neighborhood they served. Internationally recognized as a symbol of multicultural understanding, it reflects the Hull-House tradition of social service, reform, educational innovation, and urban research. The Charles J. Hull mansion (a National Historic Landmark built in 1856 and occupied by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr in 1889) includes furnishings, paintings, photographs, and exhibits that recreate the history of this world-famous settlement and the work of its residents.
