Using Motor Learning Principles and Functional Movement Patterns in APE with Children with Cerebral Palsy |
This session will provide practical applications from motor learning research for designing APE treatment sessions. Topics will include practice schedules/practice variability, feedback, modeling/observational learning, focus of attention, and others. Additionally, instruction concerning the abnormal movement patterns typically seen in children with cerebral palsy will be reviewed and means to facilitate more appropriate motor patterns will be emphasized. Finally, the information will be integrated such that participants will be able to utilize motor learning principles in conjunction with motor pattern facilitation techniques in order to design appropriate and effective APE lessons for children with CP. |
