2005 National Dance Association Scholar/Artist Lecture |
"A Global Perspective: Intergenerational Dance Education in the 21st Century"
Please accept this special invitation to join the NDA Board of Directors in hearing Scholar/Artist Anne Green Gilbert's compassionate lecture that reflects her extensive research in creative dance across the globe. People of all ages instinctively love to dance.
Anne Green Gilbert is known internationally as a leader in children's dance education. She founded Kaleidoscope Dance Company and the Creative Dance Center (CDC) in 1981. She has an M.A. in Education, has taught dance and movement at the University of Washington and has been a consultant for the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction of Washington State, training educators to use movement for teaching academic curriculum. She teaches all ages at CDC and is an adjunct faculty member at Seattle Pacific University, Seattle University and Lesley College. She is the author of three books: Brain-Compatible Dance Education, Teaching the Three R's Through Movement and Creative Dance for All Ages: A Conceptual Approach, and two videos: Teaching Creative Dance and BrainDance. Anne received the 1999 AAHPERD Honor Award for meritorious service to the field of dance and is the Past Chair of Dance and the Child International USA.
A book-signing will follow the lecture.
