Using New York State's Assessments for Program Improvement |
Statewide assessments are provided to “raise the bar” for students in physical education. The New York State Assessment Program for Physical Education consists of assessments at the high school level for competence/proficiency in physical activity, personal and social responsibility, ability to design personal fitness plans, and ability to use community resources for physical activity. A CD-ROM provides physical activity assessments for 40 activities, and cognitive assessments about fitness planning and accessing/evaluating community resources. In this session a teacher, a teacher educator, and a staff developer describe how these assessments can drive real changes in physical education programs. |
