What is Student-Athlete Development |
Student-athlete development is concerned with the academic, athletic, and personal growth and success of collegiate student-athletes. This session will provide an overview of student-athlete development, including a brief history and current prospectus. The focus will highlight the following: issues and challenges, a comparison of programs and types, current research on the effectiveness of various student-athlete support units, and careers in student-athlete development. Sport administrators, sport psychology consultants, and student-athlete support services staff, as well as individuals interested in student-athlete issues, will be introduced to the field, its current status, and a discussion of the future student-athlete development in higher education. |
