Qualitative Perspectives on Adherence to Physical Activity in Previously Sedentary Versus Sedentary Women |
Long-term physical activity (PA) adherence is an issue that has not been resolved. Research related to adherence has been explored from a quantitative perspective, with the majority of studies lasting 6 months or fewer. Due to the goals of Healthy People 2010 and the potential resulting health benefits of increasing the number of individuals who adhere to long-term PA, qualitative factors related to long-term adherence to PA need to be studied. The purpose of this study was to qualitatively examine perceptions that sedentary and previously sedentary women have about long-term adherence to PA using a grounded theory design. |
