Read, Write, DANCE: One Book, Many Chapters, Multiple Connections |
This session will examine “Omaha Reads,” a recent collaborative project with middle school and university students, dance and physical educators, classroom teachers, librarians, and faculty. This initiative fostered a sense of community by inviting citizens to read a specific, inspirational book. Participants will experience many of the interdisciplinary activities that were conducted in the schools and libraries. They will learn how to access dance through reading and writing and through an American Sign Language interpretation of the text. This session meets specific National Dance Association and NASPE standards. The presenter is the 2004 College/University Dance Educator of the Year. |
